Nigar Kirmani, M.D. Associate Professor of Medicine Office Location: Washington University School of Medicine Dr. Kirmani joined the Infectious Diseases Division in 1998. She received her medical degree from King Edward Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan. She completed her internal medicine training at DC General Hospital in Washington, DC, and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at George Washington University, Washington, DC. She did a research fellowship in the Division of Virology, Office of Biologic Research, FDA. At Loyola University of Chicago, she was the ID Fellowship Program Director, and course director of Microbiology in the Stritch School of Medicine. Clinical & Educational Interests Dr. Kirmani is Washington University's program director for Infectious Diseases Fellowship training, and attending physician in the Department of Medicine. She is director of the General ID clinic and Home IV Therapy program. She manages antibiotic therapy after hospital discharge for 25-30 patients monthly. Her main interest, however, lies in the education of students, residents and fellows. She organizes a lecture series for ID fellows, and a case discussion series for residents. She is course master of the Infectious Diseases course for second year medical students. She serves on the preclinical curriculum evaluation committee, and the committee for academic evaluation of students.
