Diana R. Nurutdinova, M.D. Instructor in Medicine Office Location: Dr. Nurutdinova received her MD from the Kazan State Medical University in Kazan, Russia. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, CT. She also did her fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital and joined the Infectious Diseases Division as a faculty in 2007. Research Interests HIV medicine is one of the most dynamic and advancing fields where development of many highly potent antiretroviral medications improved outcomes dramatically. Nevertheless, HIV epidemic remains a challenge even in such resourceful countries as the United States especially in the presence of comorbid psychiatric conditions and substance use. As the Infectious Diseases fellow I have participated in implementing routine depression screening for all HIV infected persons attending the university clinic. The screening results demonstrated that depressive symptoms are quite prevalent among HIV infected individuals and require more attention as they negatively affect clinical outcomes. My current research projects are focused on evaluating HIV clinical outcomes in persons with comorbid psychiatric conditions and substance abuse using large administrative databases.
